This was an excellent experience. Chartwell is fascinating and worth the journey from London. This private tour is definitely the way to go! Our driver, Virgil Sergiu, is fantastic. He was bright, friendly and delightful! A wonderful person and an excellent driver! Very comfortable car. We highly recommend this tour and this driver!

Being picked up right from our lodging was a big plus and being able to stay as long as we wished vs. a rushed tour. If you value your time and experience, it’s worth it.

Churchill’s home was fascinating and the gardens and ponds created a soothing experience. Much history and no rush.

Even though it was overcast and rainy most of the day, it was a fantastic experience to visit Chartwell and the Churchill estate. There is so much to see and read about Churchill at the estate that is not well known about the senior statesman. His painting abilities were known of but could not really be appreciated until you see his actual collection in his studio. I strongly recommend a visit if you are in the area.

Chartwell sits in the Kent countryside near Westerham, about 25 miles from central London. It is not on the railway, which makes it one of the harder National Trust houses to reach without a car.
There is no direct train. You travel to Sevenoaks, Oxted or Edenbridge, then need a local taxi for the last few miles, and again for the journey back. Rural taxis are limited, so it pays to book ahead.
There is no direct bus from London, and local services are infrequent. Allow plenty of time and check timetables carefully for your return.
The drive takes around an hour to an hour and a half, depending on traffic, through the M25 and country lanes, with on-site parking at the estate.
We collect you from your London hotel, wait while you spend five hours at the house and gardens, and bring you back. No connections, no taxi queues.
